At The Half-way Point: Books

See how this post didn’t include the usual *best/worst* bit?  That’s because books work on a completely different level than the rest of what entertains us.  Except for those uber-popular series, a book may come out but take a few weeks/months to find its audience, depending on the word of mouth, and sometimes it gets bought but it doesn’t get read until months down the line because people tend to buy a book and add them to a pile of *waiting to be read*

Everything I’ve read this year so far was not released in the past six months.  I’ve been catching up on oldies but goodies so I can’t give you a list of what’s hot, but I can give you a list of what I’ve heard is hot and therefore will be purchasing and reading at some point.

So far this year, this are the books that had been added to my MUST READ LIST:

Chuck Palahniuk’s Pigmy.

China Mieville’s The City & The City.

Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s The Angel’s Game.

Charlaine Harris’ Dead and Gone.

Christopher Moore’s Fool.

Tom Rob Smith’s The Secret Speech.

What not to read? I haven’t heard of anything being that vile so far.  Stay tuned….

  1. Of these, I’m most likely to try Pygmy myself. And if you do get around to Fool, I’d really like to see your Assessment on it.
