I can’t remember exactly what brought them back into memory, but for the last week and a half I’ve been all over the net watching old episodes of mostly Japanese manga/anime that I used to watch (addicting I may add, they were like crack) when I was a kid, before I even knew what the word *manga* meant.
Here are some of them:
Queen Millennia
Mazinger Z or Tranzor Z
Saint Seiya or Knights of the Zodiac
Steel Jeeg
Starzinger
G Force: Guardians of Space
Grendizer
and of course: Astro Boy!
It’s funny now as I look back at how rather terrible the dialogue is, though in a sort of entertaining way, something that I of course wasn’t paying attention to back then. Also, I can’t believe how old these actually are! They are all mostly from mid to late 70s, early to mid 80s though I watched them between the tail end of the 80s and the early 90s. I guess I was watching reruns before I even knew what reruns were!
I think my favorites by far were Mazinger Z and Saint Seiya, so it’s quite awesome to be able to re-watch them now thanks to youtube.
Speaking of Astro Boy, I’m super exited about the upcoming movie, especially since it is animated and in 3D even if Atlas doesn’t seem to be in it, he was my favorite character. I’ll leave you with the teaser trailer:
Childhood Revisited Part 1.
